Tips on using the form


Below are some helpful tips to keep in mind while filling out the online application form.


  • Pop up blockers

    Some "pop up" blocking software may limit your ability to fully access the application form. Please disable any pop up blockers active on your browser.

  • Save your work

    To avoid disappointment in case your internet connection is interrupted, we recommend saving your work as you go along by clicking on the "Save" button frequently. This will prevent you losing any work as you prepare your proposal.

  • Be concise

    Our reviewers require that text is limited to approximately 150-200 words. Should you exceed the number of characters permitted, a warning will be displayed asking you to reduce the number of words you have entered.

  • Cutting and pasting

    Certain word processing programs have characters that do not "cut and paste" properly into open text fields. While you may cut and paste from most documents, it is recommended that you do not cut and paste from documents containing line breaks, bullets and numbering and other formatting. To be safe, if cutting and pasting from a word processing program (e.g. Microsoft Word), first cut and paste to a plain text document (e.g. Notepad) before cutting and pasting again into the application form. If you are using point form, use dashes rather than "bullets". This will ensure your data is being saved properly and make for easier review of your proposal.

  • Print a copy of the proposal

    You are unable to print individual pages of the application form as you work through them. However, once you have completed the form, you will be able to print a full copy before you submit the proposal. To print a copy, click the "Print request" button on the final "Summary" page.

  • Still need help?

    If you require technical support while completing the form, click the "Need Help?" link at the top of the page. This will open a short form in which you can enter your name, telephone number and email address and a brief description of your problem. We will then contact you either by telephone or email to help you within one business day; often sooner. IMPORTANT: Please do not contact our company's community involvement team for technical problems.

  • Wait time between page load

    As you complete the online application form, some pages may take several minutes to load while the information you have entered is being processed. This delay is normal.

I'm having technical difficulties. Who can I contact?

Click the "Need Help?" link at the top of the form. This will open a short form in which you can enter your name, telephone number and email address and a brief description of your problem. We will then contact you either by telephone or email to provide assistance within one business day.

I have all this information in a single document. Why can't I attach or send in my proposal?

Because of the volume of requests we receive, it is essential that each proposal is in a standard format that our team can review as efficiently as possible. Should we require more information or your prepared materials, we will contact you after our preliminary review of your application.

Can I "cut and paste" from other documents?

Yes. However, certain word processing programs have characters that do not "cut and paste" properly into open text fields. While you may cut and paste from most documents, it is recommended that you do not cut and paste from documents containing line breaks, bullets and numbering and other formatting.

I have to complete each page before moving on to the next one. Why can't I work on pages out of sequence?

The online application form is dynamic, meaning that as you answer questions on one page, subsequent pages may have different questions. For example, if you are making a smaller request, there may be fewer questions than if you are making a larger request. For this reason the application form pages need to be completed in order.

Why does the form take so long to load or change pages?

The speed at which the form loads or changes pages is dependent on the speed of your internet connection. Pages typically take a few seconds to load and should never take longer than 30 seconds. If you continue to experience exceptional slowness, contact our Technical Support team at support@grantstream.com. Include your telephone number and one of our team will contact you to troubleshoot.

I am worried about computer security. Why do I need to enable cookies?

Our system only uses "session cookies" which are temporarily stored in your browser's memory as you go through the application form. This helps store your responses as you go through the application form. The session cookies are removed when you close your browser. We do not store any cookies on your computer's hard drive.

I have pop-ups blocked. Will the application form still work?

The form doesn't use any automatic pop-ups, which would generally be blocked by pop-up blockers. However, the form does occasionally use user-triggered pop-ups to display definitions or additional instruction. Most software doesn't block this type of pop-up unless the settings are strict. If you are having trouble displaying these pop-ups on the application form, try lowering the pop-up blocker's settings or turning it off while you complete the form.

I'm not sure I'm answering the questions correctly. How do I best answer questions?

Keep your answers short (generally no more than 150-200 words). Include the most important points about your plans, the community benefits and how things will change as a result of your work. Don't forget to tell us why you think our company is a good fit with your organization and how our funding will benefit both the community and our company. Should we require further information, we will contact you after a preliminary review.

Can I make changes once I have completed the form?

Yes, but only BEFORE you have submitted it. On the last page of the application form you will be able to review all of your answers. You can then go back to the individual pages to make any changes (you can not make changes directly to the summary page). Once you have submitted the form you will be unable to review or make additional changes.

Can I save my work in progress?

Yes. Save your work as you go along by clicking on the "Save" button frequently. This will prevent you losing any work as you prepare your proposal. Don't forget to print or record your specific user ID and password before you exit the form.

Can I print a copy of my proposal?

Yes. Once you have completed the form, you will be able to print a full copy BEFORE you submit the proposal. To print a copy, click the "Print request" button on the final "Summary" page of the form. NOTE: You are unable to print individual pages of the application form as you work through them.

Can I have access to my request once it has been submitted?

No. Once submitted, you will no longer be able to view or otherwise have access to your application. Therefore, ensure that you print a copy for your records before you submit.
